Message From the Mayor
Dear Business Leader:

When I became Mayor of Los Angeles, I pledged to give more opportunities to our young people.

Recent studies have shown that more than 78,000 Los Angeles residents between the ages of 18-24 are not employed and not in school. The City of Los Angeles is determined to expand our summer youth employment program to provide greater opportunities for these young adults. Your support of HIRE LA 18-24 is essential to achieving this goal.

HIRE LA 18-24 is our city’s effort to train and place young adults between the ages of 18-24 in private sector employment for the summer of 2007. This opportunity will allow participants the chance to gain valuable job readiness training and on the job work experience. In return, local businesses will benefit through their investment in a highly motivated, well trained workforce.

For more information please call 3-1-1 or fill out the Job Pledge Form.

Your dedication to giving our young people a chance will build stronger neighborhoods, stronger businesses, and a stronger Los Angeles.

Very truly yours,

Antonio R. Villaraigosa
Mayor
